Timberwolves Unveil 2026-27 Volleyball Schedule to Kick Off the Skufca Era

Petoskey, MI - The North Central Michigan College athletic department has officially released the 2026-27 Women's Volleyball schedule, marking an exciting new chapter for the program. The upcoming campaign will be the first under the leadership of head coach Ann Skufca, who takes the reins of a Timberwolf squad hungry to build on its recent postseason appearances.

Early Season Tests

The Timberwolves will kick off the season at the Opening Weekend Tournament (OWT) in Rockford, Illinois. This will be the 4th trip for the Timberwolves to the Opening Weekend Tournament which hosts over 80 teams for the first weekend of play in the NJCAA. Team 5 opens the season on Friday, August 21st against Malcolm X College followed by a match against Miles Community College. Day 2 of the Opening Weekend Tournament will include matches against Illinois Valley Community College & Kaskaskia College. Three of these opponents are new to the Timberwolves with only Illinois Valley as a previous opponent. The last time the Timberwolves played Illinois Valley was at OWT in 2023 where the match went to five sets before the Eagles took the victory. Malcom X & Kaskaskia are both NJCAA Division I opponents while Miles CC & Illinois Valley, like North Central, are NJCAA DII teams.

The next week the Timberwolves return home to host their own tournament where they will face the Skippers of SC4 for the first home contest of the year on Friday, August 28th at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday they will play Kellogg CC and Alpena CC.

MCCAA Northern Conference

This squad looks to continue building upon the established success while competing in the MCCAA Northern Conference. The team will open conference play at the newly formed team at Kirtland CC on Monday, September 14th. The team will battle through the conference season as they fight for the top spot with key match ups to come against Delta College and Muskegon CC.

Mid Season Tournaments

The Timberwolves will stay sharp and compete in two tournaments during the middle of the conference season when they travel to SC4 in mid-September and then Grand Rapids CC in early October. Opponents for those games are to be announced.

Special Events

In October the Timberwolves will host their annual Breast Cancer Awareness game on Wednesday, October 7th when they host Kirtland CC. And in the final regular season home game the team will honor their Sophomores on Wednesday, October 28th when they host Montcalm CC.

This team has become accustomed to playing into November and will be fighting for that chance again.
