Six Volleyball Student-Athletes Receive All-Conference Recognition
Petoskey, MI – The Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) released the 2025 Volleyball All-Conference Awards and six members of the Timberwolves team were honored. The team finished 6-6 in the MCCAA Northern Conference and earned 3rd place.
1st Team All-Northern Conference: Chloe Winchell (Freeland/Freeland) & Taylor Hafeman (Scottsbluff, NE/Scottsbluff).
2nd Team All-Northern Conference: Laken LeBaron (Freeland/Freeland)
Honorable Mention All-Northern Conference: Annie Grew (Grand Ledge/Grand Ledge), Gracie Jones (Newport/Jefferson) & Ceara LeBlanc (Brimley/Brimley).
Winchell & Hafeman were also named to the All-MCCAA team, comprised of the top volleyball players from the East, North & West Conferences.
Notes about the honorees:
- LeBlanc, a defensive specialist faced the most serve-receptions this season for the Timberwolves with 498. She was second on the team with digs this season, 238. LeBlanc was 4th in the MCCAA Northern Conference for service aces with 58. This season she tied the record for most aces in a single 3-set match with 6 during the playoff game against Southwestern Michigan College. The sophomore accumulated 431 digs in her career, which places her 3rd all time in NCMC records. Her 86 career aces is 2nd all-time for North Central.
- Freshman, Annie Grew did it all for the Timberwolves this season. Her deadly backrow attack gave the team a new dynamic while she was a staple of the team’s defense. She was second on the team in kills and kills per set, 3rd in aces and 5th in digs.
- Gracie Jones put down 96 kills for the Timberwolves this season, including her season best 11 at Alpena Community College. An outside hitter, Jones was clutch in providing key points during crucial matches for the Timberwolves.
- Setter, Laken LeBaron was a consistent leader on the court. She ranked 3rd in the MCCAA North for assists per set. LeBaron has completely taken over the Timberwolves record books including: most assists in a single match (46). Over her career she is the all-time leader for North Central in assists with 1,359 and assists per set with an 6.76 average. Alongside teammate Taylor Hafeman, she has played the most matches (57) and most sets (201) in the Timberwolves uniform.
- Taylor Hafeman has been the starting libero for the Timberwolves for nearly her entire career. This season she was 2nd in the MCCAA North for digs (457), and 3rd in the North for service aces (64). On September 2nd she was named the MCCAA North Defensive Player of the Week. Her 1st team All-Northern Conference honor follows up her 2nd Team honors from her freshman campaign. This season she broke numerous records including: most service aces in a 3-set match (6 – tied with LeBlanc), most aces in a 5-set match (7), most digs in a 3-set match (29), most digs in a 4-set match (26). She holds the top two spots for most digs in a season, her 2025 total placing first all-time. For all-time career leaders she is #1 in career digs with 821, digs per set with 4.08 and service aces with an outstanding 122. Alongside LeBaron she has the most appearances in both matches and sets for NCMC Volleyball. On top of being named 1st Team All-Northern Conference, Hafeman earned the distinct honor of being named to the All-MCCAA team.
- Power hitter, Winchell, is a returner to the MCCAA Northern Conference 1st team, and this year she picked up her first All-MCCAA Award. She was named the MCCAA Northern Conference Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. Winchell ranks 2nd in the North for kills and kills per set and is 4th in the whole MCCAA for the later. To say she owns the Timberwolves record book for kills is an understatement. All top 5 positions for most kills in each length match has her name next to it. Twice, she has recorded 22 kills in a single match – including the team’s final game vs Lansing CC in playoffs. This season she was a defensive presence at the net bringing in 54 blocks for the team. She ended this season with 4.0 points per set – the best for any NCMC VB player in history. This season she surpassed all the records that she already broke the year prior including: most kills & points in a season and career.
