Volleyball Stand Out Chloe Winchell Signs Letter of Intent for Doane University

Petoskey, MI – After two amazing seasons in which she took over the Timberwolves Record Book, Outside Hitter, Chloe Winchell (Freeland/Freeland), has signed with her next school.

Winchell leaves North Central as one of the most decorated student-athletes to date. During her career she helped lead the Timberwolves to back-to-back playoff appearances in two winning seasons. She earned numerous awards including: 2x MCCAA Offensive Player of the Week (9/2/2025 & 9/23/2025), All-MCCAA (2025), 2x First Time All-Northern Conference (2024 & 2025), and MCCAA Northern Conference All Freshman Team (2024). She was named to the Buffalo Wild Wings & Corktown Pizza Timberwolves Quad All-Tournament team (2024) and was a nominee for the 2024 Timberwolves Athletics Breakthrough Athlete of the Year award.

Winchell’s legacy will continue to inspire future Timberwolves hitters as they strive to beat the precedents she set in the NCMC Volleyball Record Book including:

  • Most Kills in a 5-set Match (22)
  • Most Attacks in 3-set Match (59)
  • Most Attacks in a 4-set Match (52)

  • Most Kills in a single season (367, 2025) – she also owns 2nd place with 293 from her freshman year
  • Most Kills per set in a single season (3.63, 2025) – and 2nd place with 3.53 from 2024.
  • Most Attacks in a single season (922, 2025) – and 2nd place with 802 from 2024.
  • Most Points in a single season (399.5, 2025) – and 2nd place with 317.5 from 2024.
  • Most Points per set in a single season (4.0, 2025) – and 2nd place with 3.8 from 2024.
  • Most Kills in a Career (660)
  • Best Kills per set in a Career (3.59)
  • Most Attacks in a Career (1724)
  • Most Points in a Career (717)

Winchell who will be graduating this month plans to enroll next semester at Doane University in Crete, Nebraska as a member of their Women’s Volleyball team. Doane is a NAIA institution that competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Last season they finished 12-19.
