The Timberwolves go 1-2 Over the Weekend to Wrap up the Buffalo Wild Wings & Corktown Pizza Timberwolf Quad

Petoskey, MI - The Timberwolves (14-10, 5-5) headed into Saturday, October 18th, on the back of a tightly contested match against Kankakee CC (17-13) the night prior. There were six very good volleyball games played over the weekend, with four elite teams battling it out on the floor of Petoskey Plastics Arena.

Day 2 - Game 1 - Match vs Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) (26-10)

The Timberwolves maintained control throughout the majority of this matchup. They never got too high or too low, always remaining composed, even when MATC would go on a mini-run, it was never enough to get by the Timberwolves. NCMC swept MATC 3-0, heading into their last matchup of the weekend.

Statistical Leaders
  • Laken LeBaron (Freeland/ Freeland) and Taylor Hafeman (Gering/Scottsbluff) combined for 26 digs to lead the Timberwolves' defense.
  • Gracie Jones (Newport/Jefferson) and Annie Grew (Grand Ledge/Grand Ledge) combined for 10 kills on 47 attempts to lead the Timberwolves' offense.

** Hafeman set a new record for most service aces in a three-set match in NCMC history with six service aces.

** Chloe Winchell (Freeland/Freeland) reached the 299 kills on a season milestone, passing last season's total of 293 kills. 

Day 2 - Game 2 - Match vs Saint Clair Community College (SC4) (20-4, 9-0)

The Timberwolves had five hours of rest between their first game of the day and this one. SC4 had just played a tightly contested match vs Kankakee CC, that went to five sets - just 25 minutes prior to the start of this one. SC4 carried their hot streak into this one, as they bounced NCMC in three sets to complete the 3-0 sweep. This is SC4's 13th win in a row. 

Statistical Leaders
  • Winchell registered eight kills on 24 attempts.
  • Hafeman and Jael Downs (Missoula/Homeschool) combined for 27 digs to lead the defense.
  • LeBaron added 14 assists.
