Women's Basketball Bids Farewell to Four Sophomore in Final Game

Petoskey, MI – The Women’s Basketball team hosted Muskegon Community College for the final game of the season and the final game for four important North Central Michigan College Timberwolves.

NCMC came out to a spirited start and had a slight advantage at the end of the first quarter, but as the game ticked away Muskegon’s hot shooting took over and couldn’t be caught as the Timberwolves lost to Muskegon 54-74.

Starting the game was Sophomore Captain, Arika Taylor (Joliet, IL/Joliet Central) who scored the first basket of the game before taking the sideline due to injury.

Statistical Leaders
  • Ceara LeBlanc (Brimley/Brimley) scored double digits with 10 points and had a team high 6 assists adding to her season and career totals.
  • Ally Sutton (Kalkaska/Kalkaska) pulled down 10 rebounds and added 2 blocks. She ends her career 2nd all time in blocking for the Timberwolves.
  • Sammy Marshall (Houghton Lake/Charles Heston Academy) shot an impressive 75% from behind the 3-point line, tying Taylor’s school record for best 3 – point field goal percentage in a game.
  • Evelyn VanTol (Frankfort/Frankfort) secured another double-double in tonight’s action and took over the record for the most rebounds in a single season. VanTol had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomores Legacy

The Class of 2026 leaves as the group who paved the way for future Women’s Basketball success. They have built the program in the Coach Glass era and defined what it means to compete and win. They own numerous records and the legacy will last for years.
