Esports ends first season of Overwatch with another Victory
Petoskey, MI -- The NCMC Esports team finished their first complete varsity season last night when they destroyed the opponents from Northcentral Technical College 3-0 in Overwatch. The six Timberwolves have competed in the NJCAA-E Tier 2 spring league in the game of Overwatch continued to get better and better each week under the leadership of Head Coach Victor Harris.
The team trained and competed in scrimmages all fall semester and eagerly awaited the opportunity to start league play. The team would need to be patient as the first week's opponent had to forfeit, giving the team a 1-0 victory. In the second week of play a technical issue with the host site, Blizzard, delayed the contests for all teams by one more week. Finally on March 6th the team was live as they battled Northeast Iowa Community College to a 7-10 loss. As the team continued to train and improve not only as individuals but as a unit they dropped two more matches against Missouri State University - West Plains and Madison College.
Then on Wednesday, March 27th while on spring break the pieces all clicked for the Timberwolves as they took down Hutchinson Community College 5-0. The team kept the momentum rolling as they defeated their next two opponents, Iowa Western Community College and Northcentral Technical College, both by 3-0 scores.
The team finishes the regular season with a .571 win percentage on their 4-3 record. Team captains, Colt Reid (St. Ignance/Lasalle) & Savannah Leaver (Boyne City/Boyne City) have provided significant guidance and leadership to the group and the team will anxiously await the news to hear if they have made the postseason which begins next week.
